W1
Boat breakages and last minute crew changes due to injury meant that our preparations for this race were less than ideal. Despite this we went into the first race of the year determined to make the most of it. We wound up before the motorway bridge and settled into a strong rhythm at rate 30, pushing away from FaT down first post reach and when they came into view again on the reach. But for the most part we rowed our own race maintaining a solid rhythm and good ratio. We finished on a strong power 20, which bodes well for pushing ourselves harder and getting a better time at Fairbairns in a few weeks’ time. Finishing as the 4th student senior W4+ and 2nd Cambridge college W4+ (behind Caius), was the icing on the cake. Thank you to Kings College Boat Club for lending us their IV for race day.
