and 4, but rowed over on day 3 after crews ahead bumped out.
The story was the same for Churchill Women's Third VIII. They bumped
Corpus Christi II, Homerton IV and Queens' III on days 1, 2 and 4,
but were denied a bump on day 3 by crews ahead bumping out.

Bumps - 26 February - 1 March 1997
Churchill
Men's First VIII went up 1, bumping Queens' on day 3 and rowing over
all over days in a tight first division. The crew's seventh place
finishing position is the highest ever for a Churchill men's crew!
Churchill Men's Second VIII were disappointed to row over on days
1 and 2, but made up for it with bumps on Selwyn II and Magdalene
II on days 3 and 4 - in the process denying CCAT blades (day 3) and
sending them spearing into the bank (day 4).
Churchill Men's Third VIII started well with an opening day bump on
Sidney Sussex III, but were bumped the next three days by Hughes Hall
I (overbump), Darwin I and Trinity Hall III to finish down 4.
Churchill Men's Fourth VIII were the most successful men's crew, going
up 4 and moving up a division with bumps on Robinson III, Wolfson
II, Catz III and Jesus IV. Sadly, a row over at the bottom of division
4 on the third day denied the crew their blades, but their finishing
position was the highest among College fourth boats.
Churchill Women's First VIII finished where they started at 8th in
the first division, bumping Newnham on the first day and being bumped
by the blades-winning St Catharine's crew on day 3.
Churchill Women's Second VIII won their blades, accounting for Jesus
III, Corpus Christi II, Sidney Sussex II and LMBC III.
